When I was a young arms collector, I often regretted that there were no documents available which allowed me to identify or to learn the history of my then still unknown discoveries. For that reason I wanted, since 2013, to rectify this omission by presenting to all collectors and lovers of edged weapons (bayonets, combat knives and daggers) publications with an abundance of information and especially with much colour photography to present and clarify all details. The book on ersatz German bayonets published in 2013 is out of print, which is why, at the request of a large number of collectors, I have just completed a complete overhaul of this book which will be available at the beginning of June 2020. It will include more than 1,700 color and soldier photos on 400 pages, new information in quantity, an appendix on the German regimental markings, a list of the German units, the bayonet holders, the trodell, the copies of ersatz for a forecast of a print run limited to 350 copies. I allow myself to present you the new book realized by Pierre Renoux and myself and which will be available at the beginning of October 2019. Following the success of the book on bayonets with French military casings published in 2017, Christian Méry and Pierre Renoux present to you in this new work swords, bayonets, swords-bayonets and daggers-bayonets French from 1840 to the present day including models of test and prototypes. This study had never been done before, because it required long and intensive research in archives as well as in military establishments. In addition, this work was subject to authorizations that were sometimes difficult to obtain. This book of 336 pages presents more than 200 bayonets, among them exceptional and rare models sometimes made only a few copies. Approximately 900 color photographs were selected to illustrate this vast subject, associated with many exceptional period documents as well as unpublished building plans. A few rare snapshots made during the tests by the services concerned allowed us to identify with certainty many hitherto unknown models. No doubt that the collector, the lover of weapons or simply the history buff will find in this book an original documentation that will certainly remain long unequaled.
